No comment on the actual sentences, but ... I think it's a teacher's job to be as accurate
(pedantic, even) as possible. It's then up to you to become more lax during every day speech.

I understand this line 美國加州某小鎭 as follows:

美國 = America (USA)
加 = add on
州 = continent
某小鎭 = some town

美國 and 某小鎭 are easy to understand. But 加州 confuses me.
Could someone help explain the line's...

want? They work for me under linux, so I would assume the work under a mac too?

Yes, I have Winzip but it fails to open the archive saying it's corrupt or other error.

1. Excel cannot open the entire and so I sucked it into Access and because the delimiters ( | )
don't seem to be consistant so I have pinyin together with...

Let me also say why I'm using NJStar (as you may be wondering).....

I like the dictionary feature where I can hover over a word and get the definition and pinyin.

But also, I can get it to write it...

do you know how to get the data only out of the db file in a certain column order...

I'm not famliar with sqlite.. the only command I could find to extract the info is .dump...

I recorded myself speaking English and I took long pauses while trying to think of what to say
next too.

1. Cantonese (on the basis of its conservatism in terms of endings and tones)
2. Hokkien (on the basis of its preservation of many archaic terms)

I would not say it would sound better. Actually, it is the z-/zh-, c-/ch- and s-/sh- initials in
Mandarin that makes it unique. The problem for a native Cantonese speaker like me, making these...
