New Party delegation visits Dalian

(Source: CRIENGLISH.com)

Taiwan New Party's Chairman Yok Mu-ming and his delegation arrived in the
coastal city of Dalian.

New Party Chairman Yok Mu-ming (C) wrote an inscription in front of
Lvshun Prison.

July 9 - Taiwan New Party's Chairman Yok Mu-ming and his delegation have
arrived in the coastal city of Dalian, in northeast China's Liaoning
Province.
This is the third leg of their Chinese mainland tour which marks the 60th
victory anniversary of China's anti-Japanese war.
The top party leader of Liaoning province Li Keqiang held a banquet to
welcome the Taiwan delegation, which arrived from Nanjing.
Li said Friday that their visit highlights the fact that Chinese on both
sides of the Taiwan Strait share the same history as well as blood.
He said their tour would foster an atmosphere of unity among all Chinese
people and that only when the nation is united and works together can it
advance.
Yok Mu-ming said a nation must not forget its history, otherwise the
tragedies of history will be repeated. He said the aim of this trip was
to remind China's younger generation of historical lessons.

Oxygen-supply systems equipped on Qinghai-Tibet trains

www.chinanews.cn 2006-04-25 16:24:48

Chinanews, Apr.25 C According to the Qinghai-Tibet Railroad Corporation,
the Golmud-Lhasa section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway will be put into
trial operation on July 1, and two systems supplying dispersed oxygen and
oxygen masks will be equipped on the train so as to help passengers
overcome altitude sickness.
It is reported that because of the existence of the anoxic condition
along the rail line, the Qinghai-Tibet Railroad Corporation will exert
all its efforts to build a comfortable "inner environment" in the cabin.
Two sets of oxygen supply system will be equipped on the train. One is
dispersed oxygen supply system, similar with the "central
air-conditioner", making the oxygen content in air remain at the level of
over 80% of that in the plain area. The other is oxygen mask installed
beside passenger seats. When passengers still feel oxygen deficiency in
the cabin, they can breathe with the oxygen mask directly.
Besides, a doctor and a nurse will be on every Qinghai-Tibet train to
provide first aid in emergency.
The Golmud-Lhasa section extends 1142 kilometers with 960-kilometer rail
across areas of over 4,000 meters in altitude. It is so far the highest
railway in altitude in the world as the top height reaches 5,072 meters
when it passes through Tanggula Range. The oxygen content in air along
the railway is just half of that in plain areas.

CNOOC acquired oil exploitation right in Nigeria

www.chinanews.cn 2006-04-21 17:08:21

Chinanews, Apr.21 - China National Offshore Oil Corp Limited (CNOOC)
announced on the 20th that it has purchased the offshore oil exploitation
right from Nigeria for 2.268 billion US dollars.
CNOOC explains that it has acquired a 45% working interest in an offshore
oil exploitation license OML 130 in Nigeria, which will highly raise the
company's overseas oil and gas reserve and output.
In addition to the US$2.268 billion expenditure on the above acquisition,
in the future CNOOC has to pay US$424 million for financial, operating
and capital expenses in the period before the deal is completed.
Nigeria is the fifth largest crude oil exporter of the world. OML 130 is
located in the around 500-square-mile Niger Delta, where four oilfields
including AKPO were discovered. The region also covers numerous
perspective structures that await further exploration.
It is estimated that AKPO Oilfield has approximately 1.1 billion barrels
of P50 reserves at present. Calculated by a 45% working interest, CNOOC
will acquire nearly 500 million barrels of oil reserve. When the oilfield
reaches a peak period in 2009, its daily oil output can hit 170,000
barrels, of which CNOOC will share 78,000 barrels.
